I hear it again and again every year; "I didn't get an email about Hang Free!"
Even if you know me personally, I don't sign people up on our mailing list - it just seems too shady. It's opt-in only - meaning, you need to follow the directions below in order to recieve email notifications about Hang Free. I'm not going to 'add you to my list'. That's your job.
We've implemented a new mailing list for Hang Free Events. To join this list, send a blank email to events-join@hangfree.org. You'll get a welcome message with list instructions. To leave the list, send a blank email from your subscribed email account to events-leave@hangfree.org.
Browse the message archive and manage your subscription to the list at our web gateway. We have an RSS feed if that's how you prefer your data.
Directions:
Leaving Center City, go down West River Drive past BOTH lights, and just after you go under the Strawberry Mansion Bridge (metal structure with a glowing neon light underneath it), we're on the left in the large grassy field. We'll be the ones with a small white tent and DJ's playing music. We should also have this banner:
This is about a half-mile back from Fells Bridge. If you drive, there is parking in two lots (on the left and right sides) just ahead, one in front of the West River Drive Pavillion, and the other just across the street.
It's around 4 miles from center city, so why not bike/rollerblade out? Wanna see a map?

Sorry for the late update, we're still trying to lock down some special details for next weeks event!
This coming Monday, September 6th - Labor Day, 2010, we'll be having our second Hang Free of the 2010 season. We expect to be up and running by 1pm on Monday, and going until dark (probably around 8pm). Directions to our location in Fairmount Park are at the right.
Hang Free is a free, bi-annual outdoor party that occurs in Fairmount Park in Philadelphia. We provide DJ's spinning music in an outdoor, casual atmosphere, where there is no cost to hang and listen.
This year, we're very happy to have some old friends at Hang Free. This memorial day our DJ guests include DJ Kel, BuddhaSan, DJ Brandon, Chuck D, DJ Dozia alongside resident DJ Under.

Each Hang Free guarantees some sport & fun (such as touch football or frisbee or volleyball) with friends and soon-to-be friends. Over the years, we've become more pet-friendly and child friendly, offering play for all ages and a friendly welcoming crowd. Plus, you get an eclectic soundtrack to picnic your day away with Philadelphia's hippest DJ's and sound makers.
It's hard to say a week away, but the weather predicted for next Monday predicts party cloudy and 80 degree weather, and a 7:24pm sunset. If it rains on Monday, we will probably cancel Hang Free due to the weather. Please bookmark and check our web site for last-minute updates as Monday approaches, and definitely post our last update at noon on Monday with the weather prediction.
We have an event page on Facebook (setup by Hang Free co-conspirator Linda Leigh) for those of you who are afraid to leave the pool of Facebook to dip your toes in the vast ocean of the internet...

The weather predicted for today looks like it'll be fantastic (if not a bit hot)!. Be sure to bring sunscreen and bug spray!
We're packing the Cars and heading out and should be up and running by 1pm! See you in Fairmount Park!
Directions to the location in Farimount Park are to the right. We're right off West River Drive, so we should be easy to spot!

And We're Up Again....
After a minor disaster with our old/new hosting server, we're back to using our old/old Hang Free site to post our info. This will be undergoing some serious revamping in the coming weeks. In the meanwhile, check out our always free DJ Sets and older Photo Galleries. Nothing from last year, as they're backed up, but not back online.
